Welcome back to another Wednesday Workshop with DealerOn. This week we’ve got some sad news…Once again Google has made a change that a lot of dealers aren’t going to like…
We’ve mentioned Google posts in a few videos in the past – they’re these cool image and text posts that appear in your knowledge panel. If they’re done right, they’re super eye catching, and we had a TON of dealers with ridiculous engagement on them, and even significant conversion numbers directly from the search results..
But, for some reason, Google has decided to change things up. The functionality is the same, but they show up in a different spot. Instead of showing up here, they’ve been moved all the way down here…
Before, they were front and center, super visible, and begging for clicks. Now they’re kinda like the nerd in high school who has to sit by himself at lunch.
If someone’s searching for your dealership by name, it’s highly unlikely that they’re going to scroll all the way to the bottom of your knowledge panel to see your posts. Desktop engagement is going to go WAY down.
On mobile, users can click the “posts” tab to see your posts, so you might still see some engagement there, since it’s a bit more visible.
BUT – that doesn’t mean you should stop using Posts. Keep sharing those awesome promotional posts, with great images.
You can even upload videos, so if you’ve got good videos or commercials, get ‘em uploaded!
So now you know about Google’s decision to move posts, so if you’ve been using Posts a lot, you won’t be freaking out when you see your engagement drop.
As always, if you’ve got any questions or comments, leave ‘em down below and we’ll get back with you shortly. Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you again next week with another Wednesday Workshop from DealerOn.
